Around this time she started having a recurring dream of kids in Vietnam who have been calling for her to assist them, and so she began work to set up the Christina Noble Foundation. In 1989 she travelled to Vietnam herself to help poverty stricken households find relief, and later expanded the foundation’s operations to Mongolia. Now aged 70, she still retains shut contact with the primary children she met, and is still actively concerned in the foundation’s work. Originally from Tipperary, Daisy Bates, was a soi-disant anthropologist who’s most famous for her empirical study of Aboriginal Australians, though her achievements remain the subject of sustained controversy. A journalist by career, Bates was assigned by The Times in 1899 to research allegations of mistreatment of Aboriginals in north-west Australia, and it was on this mission that she had her first extended contact with them. In 1915 she set off for a keep of sixteen years at Ooldea, an Aboriginal settlement that was accessible by train to the travelling public, who might see her welfare work.
